Community Partnerships
The Rumson School District invests heavily in collaborating with local experts in our community and recognizes and welcomes the direct benefits to our students and district families. We have worked diligently to broaden our community partnerships to serve the betterment of our students socially, emotionally, and academically. The following section of the guidance website is dedicated to highlighting the crucial community partnerships we have in the district. The NJ Statewide Student Support Services (NJ4S) Network
The New Jersey Department of Children and Families has launched a statewide, innovative hub-and-spoke model of services and resources to support youth mental wellness. The new model, the NJ Statewide Student Support Services (NJ4S) network, creates 15 regional hubs that provide prevention and brief intervention services to New Jersey public school students, parents/caretakers, and school faculty.

Hackensack Meridian (HMH) Pediatric Psychiatric Collaborative
The HMH PPC is a partnership between the Rumson School District and the expertise of medical providers at Hackensack Meridian to expedite our student’s access to mental health services. Through collaboration with the school SEL teams, pediatricians, and sub-specialists, the program is able to support the early identification of mental health issues and provides families access to Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (CAPs), mental health resources, and care coordination.

Developing Resiliency with Engaging Approaches to Maximize Success (DREAMS) Program
The DREAMS initiative focuses on providing trauma-informed and healing centered supports that assist staff and students in building positive relationships and emotional self-regulation. The schools receive training on trauma related topics such as Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Learning Environments, Application of Trauma Informed Practice for Educators, and Understanding the Impact of Toxic Stress and Developmental Trauma on Brain Organization and Functioning, along with others. Training is also provided in the Nurtured Heart Approach® (NHA), which focuses on cultivating relationships and engagement to foster success through building individual Inner wealth TM . It is a tool for shifting to a strength-based culture that nurtures each youth’s unique gifts and strengths through targeted training and consultation that will help staff manage challenges and serve in building the competency and capacity of school staff to help youth reach their full potential

Rutgers Center for Youth Social Emotional Wellness (CYSEW)
Our partnership with the Rutgers Center for Youth Social Emotional Wellness aims to promote mental health equity; which we define as the right to access quality mental health care, particularly for individuals and communities that have been historically marginalized based on race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, disability status, immigration status, and geographical location, among others.

Monmouth County Children’s Interagency Coordinating Council
Various members of our Rumson SEL team sit on the Education Council for the Monmouth County CIACC in order to voice the needs of our families and students, while also staying informed of the various resources available to those living in Monmouth County. The agency provides continuing education and training to staff so that we remain on the forefront of innovative approaches to student needs.

WeForum
Through a partnership with WeForm, the Rumson School District works to identify the needs of parents and the student community with regards to mental health and prevention. This partnership allows us to expand our reach into a network of community agencies and experts that can present to our families, parents, and caregivers on a variety of topics that impact our children. “Educate. Empower. Evolve.”

Purposeful Rumson
Purposeful Rumson is a REF grant-funded partnership with Graham Behavioral Services to provide support services directly to families and students at home with regards to supportive behavior modification. Additionally, this grant has supported the continued education of our faculty and staff in best practices for trauma-informed behavior management in the classroom. Parents are provided with supportive counseling and support, and BCBAs go directly in home to work with and model interventions to students.
