National Junior Honor Society

Forrestdale National Junior Honor Society

The Purposes of NJHS as found in the National Constitution:

  1. To create enthusiasm for Scholarship

  2. To stimulate a desire to render Service

  3. To promote Leadership

  4. To develop Character

  5. To encourage Citizenship


The teachers and administrators of the Forrestdale School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) welcome you! In order to be considered for induction to the Forrestdale School NJHS, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Maintained a cumulative average from the first and second trimester in each academic class that is 94 or above (92 or above in accelerated subject areas) . Academic subject areas include math, ELA, social studies, science, and world language. In addition, candidates must have a  B or above in each trimester in each special class (92 or above in health) . Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

 

In order to apply for membership to the Forrestdale School NJHS, you will need to follow the procedures for membership. Please see below:

  • Receive an Invitation to apply for NJHS membership.
  • Complete the  NJHS Application Form that is linked below.      Students must use their google accounts to submit all forms/documents

  • Complete the Character Essay. The essay prompt & scoring rubric are linked below. 

 

A complete application must include:

  • Recommendation form from a community member located on application.    Please do not email to ask if recommendation letter has been received

  • Up to 5 honors and awards earned for academic excellence in the last two years.

  • Up to 5 in-school and community activities in which the candidate has participated in the past two years. Include clubs, teams, musical groups, major accomplishments, etc.

  • Up to 5 leadership experiences the candidate has had at school or in the community in the last two years.

  • Up to 5 service activities in which the candidate has participated in the last two years.

  • Character Essay that will be proctored in person on the date selected in the NJHS Application Form.   

  • All applicants must submit the Google Form portion of the application by May 18, 2022.

  • Students will not be considered for NJHS if applications are submitted late.

Please note: The Forrestdale National Junior Honor Society Faculty Council will review your application. Nominees will be informed of acceptance or regret by mail.
