Jessica Lee Piernik: 732-842-0330 X409

EMAIL: jpiernik@rumsonschool.org

Hello! My name is Jessica Piernik and I am the Guidance Counselor, School Anti-Bullying Specialist, and I&RS Chairperson at Deane Porter Elementary School.

In 2005, I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and American Studies. Then, I obtained my Graduate Level Teacher Certification from Rider University's Graduate School of Education. I am certified as an Elementary School Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Psychology Teacher, as well as Teacher of Supplemental Instruction for Mathematics and Language Arts. Prior to becoming a Counselor in Rumson, I taught for 4 years in East Brunswick and Marlboro.

In May 2011, I received my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Services, with a concentration in School Counseling. I am certified as a School Counselor and as a National Board Certified Counselor.

The Guidance Department attempts to teach students how to cope more effectively with any problem or situation as well as deal with new challenges. Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. I help all students in the areas of academic achievement and personal/social development, ensuring that today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

A common misconception is that the School Counselor only works with students who are having problems at home or school. The truth is that I am here to serve all students and to meet a variety of student needs at school. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me!

Let's work together to give the students at Deane-Porter the best experience they can have!
